Lesson Plan For Types of PIC-LITS: Dialogue Level 2
OBJECTIVE:
Writing dialogue is a fun way to learn how to create a conversation that is suggested by a photograph on piclits.com. This will allow you to think creatively about an imagined conversation that helps engage the viewer of the photograph and helps them see the photograph in a new way.
Your dialogue should:
- indicate who is speaking
- use quotation tags: “ ,” he yelled. (samples are listed below)
- use a variety of quotation tags
- develop the personalities of the characters
- use language that is heard in conversations
- develop and resolve the conflict or leave it unresolved on purpose

MODEL PIC-LIT:
In this dialogue, you can see that the writer has:
- identified who is speaking,
- used a variety of quotation tags: yelled, answered, screamed
- developed a conflict with the melting boots and the family in danger, and
- resolved the conflict by having the firefighters rush down the hill to save the family.
