Lesson Plan For Parts Of Speech: Conjunctions Level 2
OBJECTIVE:
Conjunctions allow writers to add more detail to their sentences and link or subordinate similar material.
Everyone knows the coordinating conjunctions: for, and, nor, but, yet, so (F.A.N.B.O.Y.S.).
MODEL SENTENCE:
Love and laughter are all we need. (“and” links two nouns)
We live in the present but we dream for the future. (“but” links two independent clauses). (See the compound sentence lesson plan for a review, if needed).
Many writers do not knows the correlative conjunctions that occur in pairs:
Either…or
Neither…nor
Not only…but also
Whether…or
Both…and
EXAMPLES:
Either the sister or the brother hates clams.
He is not only arrogant but also rude.
Writing descriptive sentences in FREESTYLE mode on piclits.com can allow users to focus on writing with the different conjunctions in one or two sentences. This could entail creating a compound sentence- two independent clauses joined by a conjunction: for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so.
So, we will generate sentences in the FREESTYLE mode on piclits.com with both coordinating conjunctions and correlative conjunctions.
