OBJECTIVE:
“Write with nouns and verbs,” commands Will Strunk in the famous writing guide The Element of Style. Fair enough. But as Mark Twain admonishes, “the difference between the right (noun) and the wrong one is the difference between lightning and a lightning bug.”

A noun is the name of a person, place or thing. We will focus on selecting the right noun from the word bank of nouns on piclits.com. This will give us great practice in choosing nouns that are electric and those that merely sputter.

MODEL SENTENCE:
A rolling stone gathers no moss.
A rolling stone (noun) gathers no moss (noun).

INCORRECT AND CORRECT:
Incorrect: The bull’s horn gored (noun) the careless matador (noun).
Correct: The bull’s horn (noun) gored the careless matador (noun).
